High Purity Ore From The Chesapeake Bay
Quartz is one of the most abundant and widely recognized minerals on Earth. While it’s best known as the primary component of glass, its uses extend to products such as toothpaste and solar panels.
This versatile colorless mineral is durable, chemically inert, and non-conductive.
Our quartz deposit, located at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay in Port Deposit, MD, offers a source of high-purity silica with natural SiO2 concentrations typically exceeding 99.9%. Higher purity grades can be achieved through simple physical separation processes.
The iron content of end products is typically 50-70 ppm Fe2O3, with only minor amounts of other common glass sand oxides. Additionally, the crushing process produces angular sand particles, which increase surface area and improve melting characteristics.
